Description

I made this car quite a while ago. I was kind of hesitant to submit this at all considering how radically weird the design is. Essentially, it is a two-seater 32 cylinder roadster with rear wheel steering and front wheel drive swing-arm suspension. The doors are reverse gull-wing style that lift straight up and along the circumference of the rear tire well, instead of angling out. It has an overall length of 12.4 feet, and a width of 7 feet. Its rear wheels have turning angles of 87 degrees to the left and right, giving it an overall turning-radius of nearly 25 feet. Its engine is rotary-based, with four levels of 8 horizontal pistons that can be deactivated when the torque demand is set lower. It has a 10 gear ratchet-style transmission that can either be operated manually or switched into an automatic mode for normal driving conditions.
Because of the unusual suspension, this car is able to literally lean into a turn at higher speeds in order to maintain the center of gravity. It is also able to jack it's front end upward approximately 3 feet when parked to allow access to the underside of large engine block without using any external lifting devices.
This car may look simple, but it is intentional, as I wanted this car to be able to withstand substantial impacts with minimal body damage. So, the body is double-walled with multiple reinforcing joists in all areas. I know that isn't in keeping with the usual design standards of most modern auto manufacturers, but I would prefer to have a vehicle that doesn't crumple like wad of aluminum foil in a 5mph impact.
